SHRA PUTS 2020 SEASON ON HOLD

The Southwest Heritage Racing Association [SHRA] has put its tour on hold, nostalgia racing series confirmed on Monday, December 9, 2019.

SHRA was formed in 2013 to ensure viable nostalgia drag racing in the region, and for the most part, has succeeded in achieving its objective.

“The past few years it has been increasingly more difficult to maintain the series successfully at the levels desired,” the statement read. “With the lack of a large number of committed racers, a loss of sponsorships and resignations of key staff positions, the Board of Directors of the SHRA have elected to put the series on ‘HOLD’ for 2020. It is the Board’s desire to re-invent the SHRA with the help of committed racers, sponsors and staff into a supportable series for nostalgia drag racing in the future and the hopes are that during this hiatus a workable program will come together to bring the fun of nostalgia drag racing back – SHRA style.

“Until then, it is expected that other promoters and tracks will offer programs to fill the void for nostalgia style drag racing and we encourage racers and fans to support those efforts until a viable SHRA program can be developed, and that will be supported by racers, sponsors and fans. If you wish to support the future SHRA, we have ‘job openings’ and sponsorships opportunities available! Contact the Board of Directors for more details.

“We thank all of the supporters who have made the SHRA a family-oriented and fun series these past eight years, and we hope to have good news sometime in the future.”
