SSG, MILLICAN TEAM MAKE MAJOR MOVES FOR 2019

Straightline Strategy Group, whose Top Fuel Dragster is driven by Clay Millican, announced major moves Friday during a press conference at the Performance Racing Industry Show in Indianapolis. They have created new marketing alliances to include Funny Car, Pro Stock, No Prep Street Outlaws and Nitro Harley. Additionally, a key addition will include a new VP of Marketing and Sales.

The team has formed marketing alliances to include a Funny Car driven by Paul Lee, a Pro Stocker driven by Matt Hartford, a No Prep Street Outlaws entry driven by Jeff Lutz and a Nitro Harley ridden by Janette Thorley.

Jim Oberhofer will also join Mike Kloeber as a co-crew chief on the Parts Plus-sponsored Top Fuel dragster in 2019. He will eventually transition over to the crew chief role of Lee's McLeod-sponsored Funny Car.

Steve Cole has joined the team after leaving John Force Racing in the role of Senior VP of Marketing and Sales.

Simply put, there is strength in diversity and numbers as it concerns marketing partners," Cole said. "We can bring expanded exposure opportunities through multiple major platforms (classes) in drag racing that will no doubt prove beneficial for sponsors."

The SSG program is themed along the lines of the mega-teams of the 1980s such as those sponsored by Budweiser and Castrol.

"We have seen several marketing unions in racing between drivers in similar category entities but rarely, if ever, within the broad spectrum we are offering through our marking alliance," said SSG Partner, Scott Gardner.
