TERRY MCMILLEN IS IN HURRY UP AND WAIT MODE

With the National Hot Rod Association currently on hiatus due to the growing COVID-19 (Coronavirus) pandemic, leading online drag racing magazine Competition Plus.com has decided to fill the gap with a fun, new online drag racing league.

Veteran Top Fuel driver Terry McMillen is fresh off making history – winning the inaugural Virtual Reality Hot Rod Association (VRHRA) event March 21 at Orange County International Raceway.

Following his big win, McMillen took some time to talk about his immediate future.

As cool as it was for McMillen to win the VRHRA race, he also has his focus on getting his team ready for NHRA Mello Yello Series racing when it starts up again.

“I will be down in Indy this week at the shop so I can keep things going,” McMillen said. “What I’m scared will happen is when we do get to go racing again, we have a lot of races to make up and nobody on our team is going to have any time at home, none of us are. I want to make sure we do the best we can for them and give them some time at home right now, knowing that there’s going to be back-to-back-to-back-to-back races.”

When asked if he had a date in mind that racing would return, McMillen had a quick answer.

“No,” McMillen said. “I think the earliest, in my opinion, will be after Charlotte (N.C., April 24-26). I don’t think we are going to have a real good handle on anything until probably after Charlotte. That’s just my opinion. I have no crystal ball.

"It is certainly unfortunate that it is happening, and it is definitely changing the lives of many of us. Your heart goes out to the folks who have it in this time when they are trying to come up with a treatment or a cure cure for it. I’m 65 years old and I thought I had seen a lot in life, but I’ve never seen anything like this.”
