THURSDAY'S NHRA NORWALK QUALIFYING LED BY MUSTANGS

 

Ray Skillman (Super Stock) and Bo Butner (Stock) had their Mustangs in full gallop on Thursday during Lucas Oil Sportsman qualifying at the NHRA Summit Racing Equipment Nationals in Norwalk, Ohio.

The bright spot for Chevrolet fans was the continued domination of the Factory Stock Showdown program by David Barton and his COPO Camaro. 

Because of rain delays on Thursday, Top Sportsman, Top Dragster and Competition Eliminator did not receive a qualifying run, but will get two on Friday.

Skillman was the class of the Super Stockers pushing Factory Showdown Super Stock/D entry to an 8.847, -1.053 under his index. 
Michael Kubiak, also in FSS/D was second with an 8.994. Dan Kyle was third (GT/HA, 10.145, -0.905) while Jason DeForrest and Sam Monteleone rounded out the top five.

Bo Butner, of Floyds Knobs, Ind., paced the Stock field with a 9.024, -1.126 against the FS/X index. Kenneth Miele was second in FS/XX, 8.830, -1.070
ahead of Austin Ford's FS/XX 8.840. Randall Campbell and Arthur Hibert rounded out the top five. 

Barton, who remains undefeated in Factory Stock Showdown, thundered to the top spot with a 8.475, 161.34. Chris Holbrook (8.513) was second while John Calvert (8.581) was third.
