UPDATE: BLAKE ALEXANDER TO COMPETE IN TOP FUEL CLASS AT ENGLISHTOWN
As reported by Competition Plus earlier this week, veteran nitro Funny Car racer Blake Alexander did attempt to finish the final step Wednesday to receive his Top Fuel license in Reading, Pa., June 7 and he was successful in obtaining his ticket.
“I only had to make one more pass and I got it done,” Alexander said.
Drivers Cory Lee and Del Worsham signed off on Alexander’s license, allowing him to kick off his career as a competitive Top Fuel driver at the NHRA Summernationals this weekend at Englishtown, New Jersey. Alexander will be driving a dragster owned by the Worsham family, a car that Del bought from Morgan Lucas.
Speaking of Worsham, he will also be at Englishtown, campaigning his family-owned Funny Car.
“We are putting a new motor and clutch and supercharger combination on it (the dragster) for Englishtown,” Alexander said. “I think this will be exciting to get out there and compete against people in Top Fuel who are some of the most well-decorated drivers in NHRA. It also will be cool to say I’ve raced in (nitro) Funny Car and Top Fuel since I never thought I would even be able to drive and live up to an alcohol car.”
Pronto Auto Services Centers will be sponsoring the dragster driven by Alexander.
