WORLD SERIES OF DRAG RACING RETURNING TO CORDOVA?

According to a report published at kwqc.com, the World Series of Drag Racing will return to Cordova Raceway Park this August.

In the report, and attributing to a Cordova manager, more details will be announced at the track's banquet on February 4. The official date for the return is reportedly August 25 - 26, 2017.

In March 2016, IHRA officials announced the event, which had previously for 62 races been in Cordova would relocate to a larger facility in a "major league" market.

"The transition to MIR moves the historic event to a centralized location that can withstand the growth potential and bring in even more racers, fans, vendors, live music and much more," track owner IRG said in a prepared statement. "The new facility will serve as a fitting showcase for the world’s fastest drag racing and focus on a fan and racer friendly atmosphere."

The event, in many drag racing news reports, failed to support the statement's claims.

CompetitionPlus.com will have more on this breaking news as it becomes available.
