From the moment the Holley Hot Rod Reunion began, Dan Horan Jr. established his dragster as the one to beat and a lock to win the Nostalgia Top Fuel division at Beech Bend International Raceway in Bowling Green, Ky.

Jimi Young didn't get the memo.

Young headlined the winners at the latest NHRA Hot Rod Heritage Series event. Joining Young was Levi Keenan (Nostalgia Funny Car) and Mark Pappas (Nostalgia Pro Stock).

Young's march to the winner's circle began from the No. 2 qualifying position and included victories over Julius Hughes and Jim Murphy.

Horan, for his part, stopped John Lorbiecki and Adam Sorokin to reach the final round.

Horan left on Young with a .01 reaction time in the final round, but the starting line advantage didn't hold up. Young drove around Horan's 5.728 elapsed time, with the low elapsed time of the event, a 5.659.

Following Young's lead, Keenan saved his best for last.

Keenan, who started from the No. 1 seed, ran a 5.996 elapsed time to stop John Smith to capture the Nostalgia Funny Car title.

In a throwback of classic Pro Stock, Pappas, driving a Reher-Morrison-Shepherd tribute Camaro, stopped Mike Ruth behind the wheel of a Bob Glidden tribute 1981 Ford Fairmont.

Other winners included Garry Wheeler Jr. (6.0), Larry Harken (7.0), Kelly Freels-Key (7.5), Bill Fuesting (Competition), Ronnie Egner (Gas), Greg Carta (Modified), Bear Nichols (Hot Rod), George Warren (Nostalgia Super Stock), Donnie Beeler (Midwest Nostalgia Pro), Bob Cook (Scott Rods), and Pat Canal (Geezer Gassers).
