When Brandon Booher and the Booher Construction sponsored Top Alcohol
Dragster Team headed to Indianapolis for their first U.S. Nationals
they knew it would be memorable; turns out for the wrong reasons.

Coming off his first Top Alcohol final the week prior at Bowling Green,
Booher, a 15 year veteran of the sport, covered the quarter mile in
5.54 seconds in the first round of qualifying to get in the show for
the time being.  That was where the normalcy of the weekend ended.  In
the second pass, the fuel line came off the tank about 100 feet out
causing fuel to get under the tires and send the car into the right
side wall.  Booher was able to regain control of the car and although
his race weekend over, he was unhurt in the crash.

Beginning with the NHRA U.S. Nationals in Indianapolis, Pedregon Racing

The Orangeburg Drag Strip will host an open field of Pro Modifieds this
Saturday, September 19th. This race is open to all power adders, Blown,
Nitrous, Turbo Charged, Procharger and any transmission.

Look for a strong field of Pro Mods with drivers’ Greg Godwin, Sonny Tindal and Chris Patrick. Also, Dan Parker driving
Billy George’s Corvette. Robbie Keziah along with his Father Gene will
make another appearance. Making the trip from NC will be Josh Chester,
Buzz Varner, Steve Vick and Dale Brinsfield.

The Pacific Street Car Association has signed ATI Performance Products as a contingency sponsor for their doorslammer series.

Six NHRA Top Fuel championships -- maybe seven or more -- will be Tony Schumacher's legacy. By the end of this season, he might be able to claim six in a row.
 
But for those who listen closely to Schumacher when he talks about his
titles, his legacy will be that of a warrior, befitting his
longstanding U.S. Army sponsorship. Maybe some even will call him a
gladiator, an honor he gave posthumously to Scott Kalitta.
 
The fact is that Tony Schumacher loves simply competing as much as he loves winning.
 
The grit, the toughness, the skill to pull off nearly the impossible --
all are traits of Schumacher. Remember that he came back from a
breathtakingly frightening accident a Memphis in 2000 -- one that left
him with multiple fracture of his left leg, three dislocated fingers in
his right hand and cracked teeth. He missed only two races and reached
the final round in his comeback at Pomona. It was a person feat that
made even Gary Scelzi, his hardcore nemesis at the time, admire him.

Greg Anderson made a judgment call in 2002, when he decided to team with Ken Black in forming a Pro Stock team.
 
Black is from Las Vegas. Anderson is from Minnesota. So Anderson chose . . . North Carolina.
Selecting the Charlotte area for the team's headquarters was no
whimsical decision. Anderson figured the best fit for him was in the
heart of NASCAR country, for a variety of reasons.
 
“I know that many people in the motorsports community see Indianapolis
as the race capital for the country," Anderson said, "but I consider
Charlotte the place to be, which is why our Summit Racing team is based
here.

Traction control could be living on borrowed time in a series that was introduced on the premise of outlaw racing with no rules.

The ADRL, fearing their volatile doorslammer program could become
automated, is pondering a ban on the use of traction control. And,
according to a high-ranking ADRL official, a decision could be made as
early as next week.

“We issued a questionnaire to the racers last week,” Bubba Corzine,
ADRL Vice President of Competition said on Tuesday afternoon. “We
wanted to get their thoughts on the topic of traction control. We are
considering it and I believe it would be a tough rule to police if we
outlawed it.
Right now we are just trying to gather data to help us make a better decision.”

Growing up in Rogers, Arkansas near the worldwide headquarters for Wal-Mart has meant a great deal
to “Hot” Rod Fuller’s drag racing career throughout the years with
multiple cross promotions between the retail giant and its vendors. The
2009 version has brought Fuller together with the popular DVD rental
company, redbox, and two of its promotional partners, Stouffer’s
Entrees, and Edy’s ice cream, to create a “Dinner, Dessert, and a
Movie” theme. Fuller will host autograph sessions at Wal-Mart stores in
the Charlotte, NC area, prior to the NHRA Carolinas Nationals, as well
as sign autographs on behalf of the Wal-Mart vendors throughout the race
weekend. A specially designed autograph card that includes a limited number of Free DVD rentals from redbox will highlight the promotion.

Friends with both John Force and Tony Pedregon, it was revealed today, that Bob Tasca III facillitated a phone call between the two aforementioned drivers on September 12.

Today during the NHRA weekly teleconference Tony Pedregon revealed that thanks to Tasca, he and Force at least in his estimation, have resolved their differences arising from the skirmish in Indianapolis.

Cars and two sets of Top Fuelers just prior to the final round of
eliminations in the NHRA Carolinas Nationals at zMAX Dragway.
