AWARDS ANNOUNCED FOR 7TH ANNUAL MUSCLECAR MADNESS AT THE YORK REUNION

The awards for the 7th Annual Musclecar Madness at
the York Reunion held at the York Expo Center, York
Fairgrounds on
July 11-12 were announced today.  Winners of the
respective categories are as follows:

LYNN NACE NAMED GOODGUYS 2008 WOMAN OF THE YEAR

GGWOY-LynnNacerelease.jpgLynn Nace of Intro Wheels was named Goodguys 2008 Woman of the Year
during the Goodguys 11th PPG Nationals in Columbus, Ohio. Nace accepted
the award, a specially designed character painting by renowned hot rod
artist Bob McCoy, at a special industry reception Thursday evening,
July 10th in Columbus.

First introduced to cars by her father over fifty years ago, Nace is a
leading automotive aftermarket executive and an avid Corvette collector
in her hometown of Upland, CA.

Nace has served in numerous roles during her tenure in the hot rodding
scene, including back when she was just child retreading tires for her
father. For years, her and her husband Dave ran the road sales team for
Boyd Coddington Wheels before she went to work full time at Boyd
Coddington’s Hot Rod Garage. To keep themselves connected and plugged
into the enthusiast side of the industry she and her husband Dave
remained active restoring, building and selling classic muscle cars and
hot rods. In the fall of 2001, the Nace’s teamed up with Intro Wheels
founders Victor and Jose Moreno to expand their new line of hot rod and
custom car wheels. Today, with Nace handling the bulk of the company’s
burgeoning wheel sales, Intro has truly become an industry Giant. “Lynn
is the mother hen of Intro Wheels,” joked her husband. “She does
everything around the sales office. If you’ve ever called Intro Wheels,
you’ve spoken to Lynn.”

N C MACHINERY PARTNERS WITH DAVID POWERS MOTORSPORTS AND HOT ROD FULLER FOR SEATTLE

N C Machinery has partnered with David Powers Motorsports and
seven-time NHRA Top Fuel winner Hot Rod Fuller for the 21st annual
Schuck’s Auto Supply Nationals, July 18-20, at Pacific Raceways near
Seattle.  Fuller’s Caterpillar® dragster will fly the N C Machinery
dealer lockup logo during the Seattle NHRA race.

The relationship between David Powers Motorsports, Caterpillar Inc. and
the Caterpillar dealers was designed as a pilot program to increase
technician recruiting. Many Caterpillar dealers are experiencing a
shortage of technicians. After successful events in several NHRA
markets during the 2007 season, DPM and Caterpillar inked a multiyear
agreement last August to participate in the NHRA dealer recruitment
program. Headquartered in Tukwila, Wash., N C is the official
Caterpillar machinery and power systems dealer in Western/Central
Washington and Alaska. Operating under the names N C Machinery, N C The
Cat Rental Store, and N C Power Systems, the company has branches in
eight Washington, including a 20,000-square-foot Monroe facility that
opened in June 2008, and five Alaska cities offering Caterpillar and
other preferred-brand equipment sales, parts, service and rentals.

IHRA PRESIDENT SENDS STERN WARNING

DSB_0831.jpgIHRA President Aaron Polburn would just as soon let the talk of the
recent Edmonton boycott of Pro Stock drivers fade into a sunset of
memories.

He plans to do that, but he just couldn’t let the issue pass without speaking his mind.

In a recent interview in the Fayetteville Observer Times, Polburn was quoted.

“If this would even come close to happening again,” he told The
Observer, “I can tell you that class can put their cars up on eBay
because they would never, ever come to one of our tracks again.”

Polburn admitted he understands the financial hardship of the trip on
some of the lesser financed teams, but the source of his ire was the
meeting and purported pact signed by the top ten drivers not to attend.

CANNISTER “TIME TO POUR IT ON”

laurie_cannister_win.jpg
Laurie Cannister has won four of five races this season. She's reached the finals in every event in 2008.

Laurie Cannister has a tough challenge headed into this weekend’s IHRA
Canadian Nationals in Grand Bend, Ont. She has to find a way to top her
latest victory two weekends ago in Edmonton, Alb.

Cannister traveled 2,200 miles to win her 14th career national event
and fourth of the season. The former Pro Outlaw champion turned Alcohol
Funny Car driver has reached the final round of every event this year.

“Edmonton was, and probably will be, the toughest win to accomplish,”
Cannister said. “We didn't have any information to look back on to tune
the car at that altitude. Dale sat for hours studying and trying to
decide the best way to approach it. The double-edged sword in Edmonton
was the weather. Even though the rain delays made for very long days
for everyone, it gave Dale extra time to study each pass and come up
with the tune up for the next pass. And it worked! After getting the
first pass on Friday to start accumulating data, he kept making the
right decisions.”

SCELZI SET TO COME BACK DOWN TO EARTH IN SEATTLE

Gary Scelzi is a four-time NHRA POWERade Drag Racing Series champion
(three in Top Fuel, one in Funny Car), and has 37 national-event career
victories in 58 final rounds. He has won twice in Top Fuel (2000, 2001) at
Pacific Raceways, holds the Funny Car top-speed record there (325.85 mph), set
in 2005, was low qualifier there four times (1997, 2000 and 2001 in TF; in FC in
2003), but has never won a fuel Funny Car national event at this facility in the
Northwest corner of the United States.

Driving the Mopar/Oakley Dodge
Charger R/T in his sixth season with Don Schumacher Racing, Scelzi is ready to
get back down to earth following last weekend's Mopar Mile-High Nationals in
Denver and change that statistic. He's pumped up about his, the team's and the
car's performance after spending a large part of the first half of the season
adapting to a new car, new NHRA rules and, most recently, racing to the 1000-ft.
mark instead of the traditional 1320-ft. finish line.

As the No. 16
qualifier in Denver he knocked out low qualifier Tony Pedregon in the opening
round at the Mile-Highs, and despite his close loss to Robert Hight in the
second round, "Wild Thing" - as he's known by his fans - is charged up by his
Dodge Charger.

CONNOLLY'S EARLY DENVER LOSS DOESN'T HURT TOP TEN CHANCES

Dave Connolly was succinct while recapping the performance of the Charter
Communications/LifeLock Chevy Cobalt Sunday in the opening round of the Mopar
Mile-High Nationals at Bandimere Speedway.

“I wasn’t the best of days,
Connolly said of his frustrating first-round loss to Larry Morgan in .  “It took
us forever to make a decent run and we thought we’d have some of that today.  We
made a decent run but you can’t make decent runs anymore if you want to win.
You’ve got to hit the tree and you’ve got to make nice runs and weren’t doing
that.”

GREG ANDERSON'S PAYBACK

Greg Anderson admitted Alan Johnson gave him an old fashioned spanking two weekends ago in ps final.JPGNorwalk,
Ohio, during the race-within-a-race, $50,000-to-win K&N Filters
Horsepower Challenge. He returned the favor at Johnson’s sponsor’s
race. The loss in Norwalk was also at Anderson’s sponsor’s race.

The victory marked the fourth consecutive victory in 2008 for the 56-time winner.

LLEWELLYN'S RETURN

Peggy Llewellyn was so enthralled with her return to Pro Stock
Motorcycle that she decided to hang around until the semi-finals.

Llewellyn, who qualified 15th, stopped Chip Ellis and Chris Rivas
before losing a tough battle to defending world champion Matt Smith.
