The 2008 PPG Street Rodder Road Tour is traveling to Bowling Green, Ky.
for the 6th annual Holley National Hot Rod Reunion. More than 50 cars
will drive from San Antonio, Texas to Bowling Green as part of the
Vintage Air-sponsored tour.

"We're thrilled that, like so many other hot rodders, the Street Rodder
Tour has made the Holley National Hot Rod Reunion one of its road-trip
destinations," said Tony Thacker, executive director of the Wally Parks
NHRA Motorsports Museum, producers of the Reunion. "Events like these
have helped the Reunion grow each year and means more cool cars at the
event, as well as an extra boost for Bowling Green's economy."

Through his years of piloting a Top Fuel dragster in the National Hot Rod
Association (NHRA), Doug Herbert has attained a level of notoriety and
accomplishment most can only dream of. None of the notoriety or accomplishment,
however, can compare with the love he has for sons Jon,17, and James,12, who
were killed in an automobile accident in January 2008.

Following the accident, Herbert
transferred some of the love and energy he has for his children into preventing
other families from enduring such grief by creating BRAKES – Be Responsible and
Keep Everyone Safe – to prevent more teen driving deaths and injuries by
educating teens and their parents on the consequences of unsafe
driving.

“No parent should ever receive the
call I received in late January,” said Herbert. “There is no worse feeling than
to find out your children have lost their lives in an accident that could have
been prevented.”

Ron Capps, tuner Ed "Ace" McCulloch and the NAPA AUTO PARTS Dodge
Charger R/T Funny Car team recently tested a new Murf McKinney chassis
following the previous race in St. Louis and will debut it at this
weekend's NHRA Thunder Valley Nationals at Bristol Dragway.

Capps is tied only with John Force with the most Funny Car wins at
Bristol, two, and feels he and the NAPA team are ready to roll with the
new chassis at the picturesque Tennessee facility.

Qualifying for each of these 21-plus tough fields so far this season
remains the key priority. "If you can take one thing out of this year
so far when it comes to qualifying is that a lot of really big teams
haven't qualified at certain races," said Capps, who has qualified for
each of the seven 2008 NHRA POWERade Drag Racing Series Funny Car
events so far, "and a lot of it's been due to weather with the number
of qualifying sessions being shortened. If we get good weather and we
get four runs, it's going to be better for all the teams.

Klay Henderson (Gardendale, Ala.) and Philip Lindsay of (Gaffney, SC)
were the winners of the CompetitionPlus.com Bristol Thunder Valley
Nationals ticket giveaway. Both winners received a pair of free weekend
passes to attend the NHRA O’Reilly Thunder Valley Nationals in Bristol,
Tenn.

Both winners will attend the Bristol drags for the first time ever.

Western Sydney Dragway, a multi-million dollar Government funded, state
of the art Drag Racing facility - is delighted to confirm the major
ANDRA Championship event dates for next season, located in Australia's
biggest city.

The Eastern Creek located venue has confirmed FOUR major dates on the
calendar for next season, building on the strength of the awesome
events staged this current season, featuring the epitome of the Sport
of Drag Racing in this country.

The important aspect of the dates is the confirmation that THREE of
these events will showcase all six ANDRA professional Drag Racing
categories, as well as a full compliment from the Sportsman Drag Racing
classes as well.

"From a track operational view, we probably didn't need to add further
Group 1 categories to the Snap-on Nitro Champs next year," remarked
WSID MD Tony Beuk.

Checker, Schuck's, Kragen Funny Car driver Del Worsham knows the
score, knows the drill, and can see the future, to a degree.  He
doesn't know how the story will end, come Labor Day when the field is
set for the 2008 NHRA Countdown to the Championship, but he's pretty
sure he can guess how the 10 qualifying Funny Car drivers will get
there.  They will race hard, every lap, for every possible point.

Since the inception of the Pro Modified Racing Association four years
ago, the Pro Modified series Presented by Torco Racing Fuels Ontario
has offered some of the best racing of its kind, and there has not been
a dominate team capturing all the races.
 
In fact, out of the past 14 PMRA events, there has been only one repeat
event winner. Joe Boniferro of Niagara Falls, Ontario, won the 2007
final at the Grand Bend Motorplex over Bruce Boland of Hamilton,
Ontario. Boniferro also won the same event in 2006, making him the only
multiple event winner in PMRA history.
 
Both Boniferro and Boland, who captured the 2007 PMRA Championship
sponsored by Wix Filtration Products, Valvoline, Uni-Select, and Moen
Incorporated, will be ready to compete in the PMRA’s 2008 opener for
the Third Annual Victoria Day Weekend - PMRA Challenge at Toronto
Motorsports Park at Cayuga May 17 and 18.
 
The pair will join their fellow PMRA veterans and a host of new teams to the series as this year’s tour gets underway.

Joshua Hernandez took over the ADRL Pro Extreme points lead with his second-straight win this season.

National Guard Pro Mod driver Josh Hernandez is 2-for-2 this season in
ADRL eighth-mile Pro Extreme drag racing competition, earning a trip to
Victory Lane in South Georgia Motorsports Park at the ADRL Hardee’s
Georgia Drags. Hernandez defeated veteran Quain Stott in the final and
delivered the low elapsed time of the event, 3.824-seconds at 195.87
mph to Stott’s tire-shaking 4.906/104.87.
    
“What an amazing weekend,” Hernandez said. “Jim Oddy [crew chief] and
the team really had this old Chevy running like a bracket car all
weekend – and the results were exactly what we all hoped for.  Once my
guys found those 3.80's, they grabbed on with both hands and never let
go.”
    
Hernandez qualified in the top-half of the field at No. 7 with a
3.947/191.02 and used his lane choice to ride the left lane all the way
into the winner’s circle. His National Guard ’57 Chevy Bel Air
performed consistently with sub-four second runs, defeating Gaylen
Smith with a holeshot 3.947/191.02 to 3.942/186.30 in the first round
of eliminations, Frankie Taylor 3.844/195.17 mph to 3.916/192.25 in the
quarterfinals, and John Stanley 3.870/193.54 mph to 3.938/189.79 in the
semifinals.

In what is shaping up to be one of the most competitive Funny Car
seasons in NHRA history, John Force and his daughter Ashley have teamed
up to provide plenty of early season buzz with some memorable milestone
performances.

First, at Las Vegas in early April, 25-year-old Ashley became the first
female to lead the Funny Car point standings with a runner-up finish in
her Castrol GTX Ford Mustang. John then arrived at Atlanta Dragway in
late April and became only the second driver in NHRA history to attend
500 NHRA events, joining Pro Stock legend Warren Johnson on that short
list.

Then, in an attempt to win his 1,000th eliminations round at the same
race, John lost to his daughter in the final round. That emotional
gender-barrier breaking victory – which John called “the greatest win
of his life” – elevated Ashley to the distinction of first female to
win a Funny Car race in the 57-year history of NHRA.

At the following event in St. Louis, John managed to score his
incredible 1,000th round win, defeating longtime rival Ron Capps in the
opening round.

Bidding continues on the
special tribute helmet and firesuit honoring Darrell Russell and worn by Top
Fuel driver Alan Bradshaw during the NHRA Midwest Nationals in St. Louis, Mo.
