RUMOR MILL - MOUNTAIN MOTOR CARS AT 4 EVENTS IN 2019?

During last season's NHRA U.S. Nationals, the NHRA invited eight of the nations top Mountain Motor Pro Stock cars to come to the series most prestigious event to perform an exhibition. The intention of the display was in advance of the NHRA's technical department seeking common ground for the large displacement engines to be integrated into the 500-inch Pro Stock division.

The proposed merger was believed to be too racer costly for implementation and as a result the idea was scrapped.

A little over a month later, NHRA announced their decision to shorten the Pro Stock schedule to 18-races, leaving at least six events to be without Pro Stock representation for the first time since 1971.

Word has been floating around the Pro Stock pits which suggests at least three of those six events will have Mountain Motor Pro Stock competition. A fourth will reportedly run at the same event as the 500-inch cars.

Rumors suggest the mountain motor cars will appear at the Charlotte 1, Houston, Epping and Dallas events.
