BARTON HEADLINES FIRST DAY NHRA SUMMERS QUALIFYING
David Barton's Mustang is the top runner of the first day qualifying at the NHRA Summernationals in Englishtown, NJ.
Barton, racing in FSS/D trim, drove his Robesonia, Pa.-based Mustang to a -1.07 under, 8.830 performance. Don Belles Jr. was second in the Mustang dominance with his F/GTB entry and an 8.212, -.988 run. William Kennedy was third with a GT/MA 10.213. -0.987.
Michael Iacono was the king of the hill in Stock qualifying with a -1.204 under run under the F/Stock Automatic. Don Carson slipped into second with a 9.422, -1.178 in FS/D Mustang. Mike Cotten was third with his F/SA Duster, -1.136 under.
Veteran Comp racer Pat Ross sits atop the field after Thursday's lone session with a -.733 under the D/Altered index with a 7.613 elapsed time.
Ken Voight was second with a -.717 under the H/Altered index, while Mark Hopkin's D/Altered was third with a -.706.
