DSR OPEN HOUSE RAISES MORE THAN $16K FOR RILEY HOSPITAL

The fifth annual Don Schumacher Racing Open House generated more than $16,000 in donations for Riley Hospital for Children. The successful Sept. 3, 2010, event saw thousands of race fans visit the DSR shop and contribute to Indiana's only comprehensive hospital dedicated exclusively to the care of children

Two days after DSR drivers Tony Schumacher, Cory McClenathan, Antron Brown, Jack Beckman and Matt Hagan visited patients at Riley, patrons to the annual DSR Open House raised more than $16,000 via live and raffle auctions and other donations. The relationship between DSR and Riley continues to be one of the more thriving charitable affiliations in motor sports as DSR has helped generate more than $106,000 for Riley over the past five years.

"We couldn't be more proud of our continued relationship with the folks and patients at Riley (Hospital for Children)," team owner Don Schumacher said. "We want to thank everyone who took the time to stop by our facility on Sept. 3 and we continue to be amazed at the outpouring of donations from the race fans and the NHRA community. Both the Open House and Bowling for Riley events continue to grow and benefit a great cause."

Race fans who visited the 100,000-square-foot DSR facility had the chance to see spectacular muscle cars and hot rods as part of the Indy Hi-Winders car show. Fans also got to tour the DSR shop, including the fabrication area and new CNC machine shop. The popular "cacklefest" was a great success as five nostalgia Funny Cars roared to life and all seven DSR drivers: Schumacher, McClenathan, Brown, Beckman, Hagan, Ron Capps and Rod Fuller mingled with fans and signed autographs.

Among the items for auction during the live and raffle auctions were a Tony Schumacher 2009 firesuit, Antron Brown 2009 "Wally" trophy, Richard Petty Driving Experience, U.S. Nationals crew member of the day experiences, Valvoline/Jack Beckman helmet, along with items from DSR sponsors NAPA, Matco Tools, Valvoline, DieHard and Toyota.

To date, DSR has raised more than $106,000 with its Open House and Bowling for Riley charity tournament. The second annual charity bowling event generated more than $12,000 for Riley on May 25.
