MIKE BAKER GETS PROMOTION AT IHRA

Michael Baker has been promoted to IHRA Senior Director of Racing Operations. Baker, who has spent the last decade as Director of Competition and Technical Services, will have expanded duties that include acting as internal liaison between IHRA’s Competition and Communications departments.

He will retain all responsibilities regarding development of IHRA rules, supervision of IHRA’s six Pro-Am divisions and on-site national event rules enforcement.

“Mike Baker is the perfect person for this position,” IHRA Vice President of Racing Operations Skooter Peaco said. “No one knows more racers or has a more intricate knowledge of the rules more than him. Mike has a unique skill set, plus exceptional communication talent. This is a position where he will be best able to utilize these skills and talents to the maximum benefit to IHRA.”

At national events Baker’s duties will not drastically change, but at the IHRA World Headquarters he will be called upon as a quality control person to ensure the information disseminated by the IHRA communications department meets the needs of the competition department.

“Mike has an amazing attention to detail and an ability to get things done,” IHRA vice president of marketing Jim Marchyshyn said. “He takes a ‘no excuses’ approach to everything he does and will be a huge asset to helping us market our different drag racing series.”

Baker’s new duties took effect Feb. 12.
