CHOMINSKI, STANFIELD, HIDALGO TOP THURSDAY'S NHRA FALL NATIONALS QUALIFYING

Taylor Chomiski, Greg Stanfield and Jimmy Hidalgo set the pace in Thursday's qualifying at the NHRA Fall Nationals at the Texas Motorplex, located outside of Dallas. 

Chominski, driving an A/Super Modified 1992 Camaro secured the top spot in Competition Eliminator, as he ran a 7.755 elapsed time, -.695 under the index to edge out Clark Smiley's gas-burning, supercharged BB/Altered GXP. Smiley went -.693 under the index with a 7.207 elapsed time. Don Thomas' C/Dragster Automatic was third with a -.663, 6.937.

Fan-favorite Rodger Brogdon's '66 Chevy II wagon produced its best qualifying effort with a 6.978, -6.42 under the B/Altered Automatic index. 

Former NHRA Pro Stock driver Stanfield drove to the top of the Super Stock qualifying order with a 9.788 elapsed time, -1.012 under the GT/JA index.  Jason Ochoa's S-10 truck was second with a 9.507, -.993 under the index. Christopher Dodd's Cobalt was third, -.986 under the GT/EA index. There are 40 Super Stock cars in competition this weekend. 

A pair of Louisianans dominated the Stock Eliminator qualifying. Joining fellow Bayou buster Stanfield, was Hildago who, drove his Donaldsville, La-based G/Stock Automatic Corvette to an 11.001 elapsed time, -.999 under the index.

Bobby Brannon was second with his B/Stock Automatic Camaro, -.978 under the index with a  10.272. Sheila May Holt's Houston, Texas-based E/Stock '66 Nova was third with a -.951, 10.699. 

Kamron Wright's (Top Sportsman) 6.221, 229.27 and William Kruse's (Top Dragster) 6.100, 240.42 set the pace for the fast-bracket divisions. 

Sportsman final eliminations begin today at 8 AM, CST.
