FUNNY CAR’S RON CAPPS TAKES TOP SPOT ON DAY ONE AT SPRINGNATIONALS

Things just keep getting better for nitro Funny Car standout Ron Capps during the 2022 NHRA Camping World Drag Racing Series season.

Capps, in his first year as the owner of Ron Capps Motorsports, arrived at the SpringNationals at Houston Raceway Park this weekend third in the points standings with one win and two No. 1 qualifier positions.

For the past several NHRA seasons, Top Fuel driver Brittany Force has been dominant in qualifying.

That trend continued at the SpringNationals at Houston Raceway Park Friday night.

FUELTECH NAMED 2022 TITLE SPONSOR OF NHRA PRO MOD DRAG RACING SERIES

The NHRA announced today that FuelTech, an industry leader in performance engine management systems, has been named the title series sponsor of the NHRA Pro Mod Drag Racing Series for the 2022 season.

The FuelTech NHRA Pro Mod Drag Racing Series opened its season last month in Gainesville and is next in action April 29-May 1 as part of the Circle K NHRA Four-Wide Nationals at zMAX Dragway in Charlotte. The series features 10 races during the 2022 campaign, including stops at Virginia Motorsports Park, Summit Racing Equipment Motorsports Park, Heartland Motorsports Park, Brainerd International Raceway, Lucas Oil Indianapolis Raceway Park, the fall race at zMAX Dragway and World Wide Technology Raceway before the finale on Oct. 13-16 at Texas Motorplex.

GIBBS, EARWOOD HONORED AT NCMA AWARDS GALA

Rockingham Dragway owner Steve Earwood and NASCAR Hall of Fame team owner and Pro Football Hall of Fame coach Joe Gibbs were among those honored Tuesday night (April 19) at the North Carolina Motorsports Industry Ceremony presented by Fifth Third Bank at the Embassy Suites Ballroom.

The annual gala hosted by the North Carolina Motorsports Association, which was postponed from Jan. 25, recognizes companies and individuals who have made significant contributions to the $6 billion Carolina motorsports industry.
