He has won multiple championships in different forms of drag racing; national, divisional and in the bracket world. But that’s not what defines Kyle Seipel as a person. For that, one has to look past any accomplishments and glimpse into his mind.
I have to admit I didn’t know Kyle all that well prior to the beginning of the dynasty he and his partner Peter Biondo built starting in 2010; the Spring Fling brand of events. Naturally, I knew of him in following the sport, but our relationship began on April 21, 2010 at the very first Spring Fling event held in Bristol, Tennessee. It was there where I put a face to a voice I had only spoke with prior. What I learned in the ensuing years was a man with a deep determination to go through life enjoying every single moment.

In advance of the NHRA Norwalk Nationals this weekend long-time Kalitta Motorsports marketing partner SealMaster will once again be stepping up its exposure by flying its colors on the Top Fuel dragster piloted by 2013 NHRA Top Fuel world champion Shawn Langdon. Earlier this year Kalitta Motorsports announced an expansion of their relationship and branding with SealMaster, a global leader in the manufacturing and distribution of pavement maintenance products and equipment. This specialty race car is a further example of the growing marketing relationship. During the NHRA Norwalk Nationals Langdon’s race car will sport the familiar SealMaster colors and logo while his team will wear special crew shirts.
“We made a big announcement with SealMaster earlier this year. We added more SealMaster branding to our race cars and are always developing new business opportunities together. We have to thank the SealMaster franchise system for its support,” said Chad Head, Kalitta Motorsports General Manager. Everyone we work with there really make this program run extremely well and have been great to work with.”
After COVID-19 restrictions prevented the Professional Drag Racers Association (PDRA) from making its annual stop at Maryland International Raceway in 2020, the series and its racers are charged up for their Maryland return at the North vs. South Shootout presented by Line-X, June 24-26.
“Maryland International Raceway has been a staple on the PDRA tour, so we definitely missed this place last year,” said Tyler Crossnoe, race director, PDRA. “A number of our biggest stars call Maryland home, and we have a ton of fans in this area. We’re all excited to get back to Budds Creek to put on a show and crown some event champions at the North vs. South Shootout.”

According to guest Brian Lohnes, NHRA will soon announce its presence on Plex TV, a smart tv app that can be downloaded for free.

Travis Shumake was at a wedding in The Hamptons this past weekend.
In this tony setting on Long Island, the development officer for a New York City-based global non-profit organization stole some time from the festivities to find a quiet spot to talk about the 330-mph, 11,000-horsepower world he’s preparing to enter.
“I’m a secret race-car driver on the side,” he said, laughing.
Top Fuel veteran and championship contender Doug Kalitta will be returning to a new-look Applied Imaging Top Fuel dragster for the NHRA Norwalk Nationals this weekend in Norwalk, Ohio. Two years ago Kalitta raced his Applied Imaging dragster to the quarterfinals at the wildly popular race contested just west of Cleveland. The return of the award-winning Michigan-based company which focuses on managed print and network services as well as hardware and software solutions for companies across the Midwest is another strong reflection on the strength of Kalitta Motorsports’ business to business relationships.
“We have enjoyed working with Applied Imaging since 2019 and we have seen how the relationship has grown,” said Chad Head, Kalitta Motorsports General Manager. “They have been involved with a number of our other partners and this year they are joining forces with our charity partner A Kid Again to do some amazing things. Doug’s Applied Imaging Top Fuel dragster will definitely stand out in the staging lanes and on the track. We are looking forward to putting on a good show for the fans and all our sponsors.”
