STEVIE FAST HAS AN IDEA, BUT IS ANYONE LISTENING?

Two-time NHRA Pro Modified champion Steve Jackson has been waiting for the perfect platform to let his idea be known. Tuesday night on the CompetitionPlus POWER HOUR, the man known as Stevie Fast let it rip.

"I'll talk about one thing NHRA can do to fix all this bs," Jackson said. "Y'all want to know? I proposed it. Nobody wants to do it, and I have no idea why. I can't get them to tell me why they don't want to do it. They say it's not a good idea. You know how to fix all this parity bs in Pro Mod?"

Jackson can name that tune in three words.

Qualifying bonus points.

Yes, he wants those baby points for the Pro Modified class.

"All this sandbagging and flying in for Q3 and qualify number one and flying back out 15 minutes later," Jackson said. "You give everybody qualifying bonus points in Pro Mod where it's enough to where it's rounds of racing at the end of the year; you'll stop all the bullcrap sandbagging.

"NHRA can do an easier job doing parity because everybody'll have to run it hard. Nobody skips out on the hot session in Q3 because you know you can't improve. The fans are the boss; give the fans a show. We need qualifying bonus points in Pro Mod. There you go. I've been waiting for a stage to say that. And if somebody thinks it's a bad idea, I want to know why. Send me an email - stevejacksonracing@yahoo.com

Jackson isn't looking to reinvent the wheel.

"They can copy the exact same format," Jackson said. "Just something to wear at the end of the season. It's a couple rounds of racing if you run your car hard. It'll stop everybody from playing all the games they are doing with parody. You don't have to worry about parity in any of the other classes. Everybody's got a natural aspirated motorcycle; everybody's got a natural aspirated Pro Stock car.

"Funny Cars and Top Fuel dragsters all have the same stuff. Pro Mod is hard to have parity because you have so many different combinations of weight combinations. We can have our parity perfect, and in some races with some weather, some combination's going to have an advantage. If you had everybody running stuff balls to the wall all the time, it'd be a lot easier to keep them in check."

Jackson realizes his suggestions might fall on deaf ears, but this won't stop him.

"Hey, all I can do is jump up and down. NHRA," Jackson said. "Everybody comes to me and says, 'Go tell NHRA what to do."

"NHRA does the exact opposite of everything that I tell them. So now there's no chance of us ever getting called by them. They think I'm the devil rolled all into one. I don't know what the deal is."
