AUSSIE TOP FUEL ACE TO SIT OUT WESTERNATS MEETING

Leading Aussie Top fuel team PremiAir Nulon Racing will bypass round four of the 2023-2024 championship at the Perth Motorplex, March 2-3.

Team owner-driver Peter Xiberras is currently in third place behind RAI duo Wayne Newby and Damien Harris.

According to sources close to the team, “They have decided to step back from racing in order to go testing ahead of the final four rounds of the season. It’s a case of taking a step back and regrouping. They have identified areas they need to get on top of and believe they are better served by going testing to iron out the issues that have held the team back this season.”

The team’s best performance this season has been a win over Phil Lamattina in the B-Final in round one.

Pre-season Xiberras, a two-time Top Fuel champion and runner-up to Harris in 2022-2023, was expected to be the leading challenger to upstage the RAI squad that has dominated since the formation of the Top Fuel Australian series in 2021.

The team is expected to return to racing at the Riverbend Nationals on April 5-7.
