FEEDBACK FRIDAY - INDY 2007 - WHAT A LONG STRANGE ROAD IT'S BEEN

FEEDBACK ARTICLE - INDY 2007 - WHAT A LONG STANGE TRIP ITS BEEN

I loved the thoughts on going to Indy. It is the one place that you can feel a difference when you pull in. I have been to 20 some Nationals and can remember something that happened there over the years like it happened yesterday and cannot remember what I did last Tuesday. I will go to Indy as long as I can crawl there. - Brian DeHart, Johnstown,Ohio

Agree with him or not, Jon Asher has become a most respected elder statesman for drag racing. He first caught our attention with his outstanding photography and in later years quickly learned to voice his opinion where the sport was headed.  In either respect, he has become the confidential voice of drag racing. His insight and understanding of the sport are second to none and his memories of Indy bring back times that are long gone, but never forgotten.  Thanks for the memories Jon.  Little did we know that the early Indy years were the best of times! - David L. Gutierrez, Detroit, MI

This was our 48th year of participation at Indy. We enjoyed our view from the National Dragster Terrace Suites and was part of the tribute to Bob Daniels. The Flintstone Flyer E/G Packard was part of the 50th celebration and last year's salute to the Gassers. We drove our little 39 Chevrolet Coupe to Indy this year...as it marked our Aug. 17th 50th wedding anniversary. With our business and racing...we have enjoyed 55 years of active participation. WE are currently restoring our 1968 Barracuda Funny Car which won A/XS in the 1968 US Nats. Hopefully we can debut it in 2008. - Dave & Susie Koffel, Huron,OH

A great piece.  It truly catches the spirit and importance of the place and the race.  As one who has been fortunate to attend all but two of the Nationals since they moved to IRP (you're right about that title among us old-timers), I truly enjoyed the piece.  You're very good dude.

I also recall the '67 race.  The entrance to the old DA Lubricant tower at the starting line was unwatched following the Top Fuel final and I was able to walk up to the upper floor and watch the shaving moment; one that I will never forget.  I do also miss those Top Fuel class elimations on Sunday followed by the 32 car Top Fuel eliminations on Monday.  Again, just a wonderful piece. - Stu Carey, Cincinnati, OH

Jon nailed it again with his description of Indy. Nice work. - Fred Simmonds, Detroit, MI
