A lie, repeated often enough, becomes accepted as the truth. Too
many racers and writers are convinced NHRA IS drag racing. Not so.My wife and I, as are many others, investing a lot of money in a nitro Funny Car/Fuel Altered with no intention nor desire to run national events. The nitro underground is stirring; you just don't know it.
If NHRA AND IHRA vanished tomorrow there would be drag racing next Saturday. NHRA did not invent drag racing, they invented a professional series of drag racing and if that series goes "poof" ALL it means is that I'll have a harder time buying fuel parts. People would reorganize, fuel match racing would return, and TV and corporate America would continue to ignore the sport.
NHRA provides NOTHING but a set of rules and a race structure. What they HAVE done is kill innovation in the pro ranks and escalate costs. - John E. Wilson
