HOSSLER 70.5 CAMARO IS A WORK OF ART
Boy, that 70.5 Camaro is a looker.
If you’ve ever seen the Armor All commercial where NASCAR racer Tony
Stewart stands in a daze staring lovingly at his clean car, then you’ll
get a good idea of how Alex Hossler feels when he looks at his new toy
from Duncan Race Cars.
Hossler has the first of the Cynergy Composites lightweight 70.5 Camaro
bodies and has mated the impressive bodywork with an extremely
lightweight chassis chock full of ingenuity and, oh yeah, titanium.
A 3.90-second, 190 miles per hour test run gives Hossler the feeling
this classic muscle car will be a trophy girl when it’s all said and
done.

lightweight chassis chock full of ingenuity and, oh yeah, titanium.
A 3.90-second, 190 miles per hour test run gives Hossler the feeling
this classic muscle car will be a trophy girl when it’s all said and
done.
“It’s a great car and obviously we have a lot of power with the screw
blower,” Hossler said. “This Duncan Racing Chassis is super
lightweight. I think once we get all of the new bugs out of the car, it
will fly.”
Hossler competes in Pro Extreme, a class founded on taking performance and potential to the extreme limits.
“We obviously using a lot of titanium to cut back on the weight and a
lot of exotic materials just to get the horsepower to weight ratio as
good as you can get it,” Hossler said. “It is exactly that, ultra
lightweight. So far the body appears to be super strong and cuts
through the air. The best part about this body is that I can see out of
it so much better than any car I’ve ever had.”
Hossler knows the better visibility makes the car safer.
“I can catch it quicker if I drift out of the groove,” Hossler admitted. “That is the best highlight.”
The Camaro has the looks and Hossler believes the invaluable assistance
from Jon Salemi of DMPE and Mike Stawicki will make the car a complete
knockout as they refine the tuning combination.
“We’re all learning and hopefully it will continue to keep coming
together and we can go out and run consistent 3.80s. We might be able
to slip into the 3.70s.”
Hossler also heaps credit on Chris Duncan who oversees the
round-by-round tuning and maintenance as well as a multitude of other
duties.
“I’m the only one that’s dumb enough to drive, so they’ve made that my niche,” Hossler said with a smile.
Hossler feels that with each run down the eighth-mile his understanding of the car and ability to drive gets better and better.
“The car hooks fine and we are still trying to adjust the chassis so
the car will run fine,” Hossler said. “The car drifted a little left so
I pedaled it instead of trying to wrestle the thing back.”
