“She was really excited,” Smith explained. “I don’t think I could have given her enough clothes to cover that birthday gift.”

McBride has been sidelined for the last two events on the NHRA Full Throttle tour due to lack of sponsorship. At the last event in Englishtown, McBride’s birthday fell on the Sunday of the event and it was then that Smith presented her with a birthday card that said she could race in Norwalk.

McBride will be riding the Buell that her fiancé rode to a world record last season in Norwalk but the engine mounted inside of the frame belongs to Karl Klement.
