Journeyman Funny Car driver Phil Burkart hopped behind the wheel of "Nitro" Nick Boninfante's U.S. Male nitro Nostalgia Funny Car Saturday night at the Summer Motorsports Spectacular at Raceway Park in Englishtown, N.J. and picked up right where he left off by running another five second run in front of a capacity crowd.

Burkart raced "Crazzzzy Jake" Crimmin's Ford Mustang and defeated him with a 5.88 second elapsed time at a shut-off 232 mph.

During that run a fuel nozzle clogged up limiting the performance and Burkart shut off at about 1,100 feet to prevent any engine damage.  The end result was that they did hurt a couple of pistons on that run and because of time constraints couldn't repair the damage in time to make another run.

The team was still pleased about their performance and they look forward to returning to Raceway Park on July 26th for the 8th Annual Funny Car Reunion.
