MUSI STAYS BUSY PART-TIMING

Pat Musi believed there would come a day after his NMCA Pro Street driving days slowed to part-time, that he would come to a race just to spectate. He’s learning quickly learning that those days aren’t here.

Musi’s not complaining, as work in this depressed economy is sometimes hard to come by in his profession.

He was at the NMCA NMRA All-Star Nationals in Concord, N.C., assisting Pro Street racer Vinny Demieri with his Camaro. He’s also assisted Joe Dunne with his entry as well.

“I enjoy it and since I’m not racing, it’s pretty cool,” said Musi. “It fun to come out and work on them and see some results.”

If not for a wedding Dunne was committed to attend this weekend, Musi might have been working with two cars.

Musi hopes he’s help the teams to achieve a sense of self-sufficiency, at least for one race.

“I have to go to Aruba, so I hope they have learned enough over the past few races,” Musi explained. “Both teams have great crews. I’m pretty impressed with both teams and both teams have good drivers.”

Musi believes that if the two teams with their current combinations had been racing back in the formative days of Pro Street, he’d have had a tough time beating them.

“It’s about having good power but also in having a good team,” Musi said. “You could have good power but a bad car, good car and no power, you could have good power, good car and bad crew and you’re not going to win. You have to have a good overall package. One guy can’t do it all. Those days are long gone.”
