Bristol Dragway officials and Christensen, the creator of Arm Drop Live, want to help make this special event more accessible to the racers of the region.

“In this economic time, my fantasy is to go out and do drag racing and give people a good show,” said Christensen. “I’ve heard too many stories, it kills me. It is tough in today’s environment.

“I hope everyone learns from each other,” he continued. “I’ve learned from them. I hope to make it easier for the racer to participate in these tough economic times. People are scaling back right now. Drag racing has to adapt, because if we want to keep the sport alive and thriving, we need to take out all of the hurdles.”

The event is much like Christensen’s popular SPEED television show, PINKS All Out. However, this event includes three separate 32-car fields and an eight car Quick-8 field competing for cash prizes. Each group of cars races for a portion of the prize money. While only 16 cars run for the top prize on PINKS All Out, 100 racers have the opportunity to snag the money at Arm Drop Live.

“This is a fun, run-what-you-brung, heads-up event,” explained Christensen. “Line them up and race them. We don’t care what you’ve got. Once I get on the platform, it is non-stop action for three hours until I’m done.”

Spectator admission is $20 each day, or $35 for the weekend. Children 12 and under are $5 each day.

On Friday, Sept. 18, the pit gate opens at 10 a.m. Spectator gates open at noon. Test and tune begins at 12:30 p.m. and lasts until 7 p.m. An optional round of qualifying begins at 8 p.m.

On Saturday, Sept. 19, the pit gate opens at 8 a.m. Spectator gates open at 9 a.m. On track action is slated to begin at 9:30 a.m. Christensen will come to the line during the afternoon and deliver his famous armdrop to the qualified competitors.

Fans will be able to get autographs and have pictures made with Christensen at the conclusion of the on-track activities.
