MONTECALVO FACES CHAMPIONSHIP DECISION

During this inaugural season of ADRL Extreme Pro Stock, John Montecalvo was unable to attend all DSB_2728of the ADRL events. However, that didn’t stop him from qualifying for the Battle of the Belts Championship Race. The top eight in points qualify for this championship-determining event, and Montecalvo is well in the field, as the fifth ranked driver. This success hasn’t been one sided; in fact, Montecalvo is the only driver to remain in contention for two championships in two series.

Currently Montecalvo leads the IHRA Pro Stock championship standings and has an opportunity to race in the Elite 8 Shootout, a race-within-a-race during the IHRA World Finals in Rockingham, NC.

So much good fortune has led Montecalvo to a tough decision. Both championship events are scheduled on the same weekend, October 22 - 24.

Which championship will he pursue?

“I’m disappointed that I can’t attend the final ADRL race and defend the hard work we’ve put in all year long," Montecalvo said. "Things didn’t work out that way this season, but the ADRL will be here for a long time so hopefully we can battle out for that Championship next season.

"I gave Kenny Nowling a courtesy call and let him know we wouldn’t be making the Battle of the Belts. Kenny was very understanding and wished us the best. That just goes to show the true sportsmanship and integrity of that organization. We want to offer our apologies to Kenny, the ADRL staff and all our ADRL fans. We’ve had a lot of fun in the ADRL and can’t wait for the 2010 season.”
