DIXON HEADED TO LVMS TEST

Two-time NHRA Top Fuel Dragster champion Larry Dixon will participate in the seventh annual Nitro Blast-Off Preseason Test Session Jan. 18-20 at The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.

The 41-year-old Dixon drives for legendary drag racer-turned-team owner Don “The Snake” Prudhomme and will compete under the U.S. Smokeless Tobacco banner for 2008. The Indianapolis native has earned more than 40 final-round victories and he clinched consecutive Top Fuel Dragster championships in 2002 and 2003.  His victory in Las Vegas at the 2005 SummitRacing.com Nationals moved him ahead of drag racing legend Don Garlits on the all-time win list (third place). "I'm really excited about getting on the track, especially at Las Vegas Motor Speedway,” Dixon explained.  “The staff there goes above and beyond to make sure we have the best possible conditions to test in. With the major rule changes that have taken place this winter, getting as many runs in as possible is vital to how we'll perform at the season-opener in Pomona which is three short weeks away."

Dixon’s team will be joined by a number of other participants, including Top Fuel Dragster drivers David Grubnic and Scott Kalitta.  A large number of Pro Street, nostalgia and alcohol teams

also are expected for the preseason test session.  For more information, please contact The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway’s office at (702) 632-8213 or visit www.LVMS.com.
