The veteran racer and founding Pro Modified Racing
Association (PMRA) member will get behind the wheel of the KC Motorsports Lumina
in 2008.
For 2007, Janzen had fellow PMRA
driver Joe Lilienthal of Kenmore, New York drive his car.
“This year will about the same as last year,” said the
2006 PMRA co-champion. “Except I’m going to drive.”
And other that some engine work, Janzen stated the car and
team will be pretty much as last year. Craig Masterson will continue as the
team’s crew chief.
With main sponsorship from KC Auto Parts, John Bear, Wix
Filters, Raybestos, and AutoFX, the KC Motorsports Chevrolet Lumina is powered
by a Keith Black 526-cubic inch supercharged engine, couple to a three-speed
Lenco transmission. Janzen has had some engine work done by Carl Spiering and
his ERD (Engine Research & Development) racing engine facility, adding he
should get down the track quicker this year.
“Carl’s had the engine in for some tune-up,” he said. “I’m
sure it’s going to have a lot more power.”
The KC Motorsports team will be entering its fourth year
of PMRA competition when it takes to Toronto Motorsports Park drag strip May 17
and 18 for the Victoria Day Weekend - PMRA Challenge, the opening round in the
2008 PMRA tour.
And Janzen said there will not be any big changes when the
team rolls the Lumina out of the trailer.
“We’ve got no big plans for this year,” he said. “We’re
just going to come out and have some fun.”
PMRA tour stops in 2008 include two dates at Toronto
Motorsports Park in Cayuga, Ontario, Lancaster Raceway Park in New York State,
Sanair in Quebec and the Southwestern Ontario track of Grand Bend
Motorplex.
