Jake Barbato of Jenkins Competition confirmed Jenkins’ condition with the NHRA’s John Jaudaga on NHRA.com.

“To set the record straight, Bill did not have a heart attack,” Barbato said. “Bill has had various heart issues over the years and has taken a variety of prescribed medications under the supervision of a heart specialist while carefully monitoring his blood pressure on his own.

“On Sunday, a combination of the medicine caused his blood pressure to drop, and he requested that good friend ‘Jungle Pam' Hardy take him to the hospital. The doctors were quickly able to restore the blood pressure to its normal level.”

Jenkins plans to help Dave Northrop in Atlanta later this month.

“Bill is doing fine now, and this won't affect our program. We weren't scheduled to attend the Las Vegas event but will be in Atlanta as planned.”

Jenkins will be inducted into the International Motorsports Hall of Fame in Talladega, Ala., April 24, which will mark the 25th anniversary of the institution.
