MCBRIDE GETS THREE-RACE DEAL

NHRA Pro Stock Motorcycle rookie Angie McBride and Indicom Electric have signed a sponsorship deal for the next three NHRA POWERade Drag Racing Series races. McBride, who sits seventh in the POWERade Championship point standings, has been searching for a sponsor for the 2008 season in an effort to continue her first full season in the NHRA.

Not only is Indicom Electric sponsoring McBride, but her teammate, 2007 champ Matt Smith, as well.

“I am excited to be representing Indicom Electric and Nitro Fish,” said McBride. “We are running great this year, but just need the financial backing in order to keep my bike going. I thought I was going to have to sit out the next few races, so you can imagine how relieved I am that Indicom and Nitro Fish have stepped up and helped me out.”

Smith, who sits second in the point standings, has been helping McBride live her dream, but he also knows how tough it is to find a sponsor in order to keep those dreams alive.

“Angie is a great rider,” said Smith. “She is very marketable and would represent any company very well; hopefully we can get her something permanent soon. I know how tough it is to get a sponsor out here. Heck, I won the championship last year and almost didn't race at all this year. I just keep telling her that things will fall into place if it is meant to be. We got a few things in the works, so hopefully she can race the rest of the year.”
