To kick off the festivities, Test & Tune sessions will be available at Memphis Motorsports Park on Thursday, May 8, from 6-10 pm. All new to the event this year is a special pre-race celebration Friday night, May 9, downtown on Memphis’ legendary Beale Street. Held at the Coyote Ugly Saloon and hosted by Memphis Motorsports Park, COMP Cams® and Hot Rod Magazine, the first ever Friday night bash is open to all Pump Gas participants, friends and families, as well as local enthusiasts for what is sure be a fun-filled night of festivities. As in previous years, the driving segment of the test will occur on Saturday after the tech inspection at the COMP Cams® headquarters. Tech inspection will begin at 9 am and conclude by 2:30 pm. All of the hoods will be sealed before the driving segment so no repairs or work will be allowed. Those in attendance at the COMP Cams® facility on Saturday, May 10, can choose from a wide list of things to do throughout the course of the day. Activities include: a drawing for COMP Cams® product gift certificates, the popular Engine Builder Duel, guided facility tours, an apparel sale and a special dunk tank charity event, all hosted by COMP Cams®.

Once they arrive at the track, participants are allowed time to tune their vehicle for an all-out drag racing elimination-style event. This year each racer will be allowed two official qualifying runs to seed their placement in the Sportsman-style racing ladder. As an added draw, racers who do not qualify for the event will be allowed to enter the exhibition “grudge” racing event, which will be staged between rounds to keep the racing action constant.
