HERNANDEZ AND TEAM RAGE READY TO TURN IT ON IN E-TOWN

Josh Hernandez, driver of the Tommy Lipar Racing Team Rage '68 Camaro Pro Mod, owns both sides of the Old Bridge Township Raceway quarter-mile Pro Mod track records -- 5.950 seconds and 244.03 m.p.h., and the defending world champion is prepared to defend his records as well as advance toward protecting his series crown as the JEGS ProMod Challenge competes at the Lucas Oil NHRA SuperNationals this weekend.

Knowing his car is performing at its peak coming into the contest this weekend, Hernandez said he wants to make a move in the points race and get closer to the top. Currently sitting No. 6 and 94 points behind the leader, Tony Pontieri, entering the second half of the ten-race series, the Texas native knows it's time to "turn it on." "We've won one race this season, and we need to get some more notches in our belt to work our way back to number one," Hernandez said. "Jim and Dave Oddy [crew chiefs] and the guys really have this car running well - consistently in the fives, and I know we've got to continue that this weekend."

After setting the track records during qualifying last year, Hernandez was able to lay down consistent 5-second passes until being defeated by eventual winner Tim Tindle by less than a car's length.

"Last year we lost a heartbreaker to Tindle in the semi's, and I really want to take one at this track," Hernandez said. "I know we've got the power, and I know we've got the team, so it's really up to me to get the job done, and I feel really good coming into the weekend, so we're all pumped up and ready for action."
