Chris Rivas, rider of the G2 Motorsports/Drag Specialties/S&S Cycle V-Twin Pro Stock Motorcycle (PSM), is looking forward to this weekend's Torco Racing Fuels Route 66 NHRA Nationals confident many of the problems the team suffered this season were resolved during a late May test session.

"It was valuable time spent on the track and we'll apply what we learned and be a very competitive team," said the 41-year-old Fresno, Calif., native. "We improved our short track times, and now I'm looking toward Chicago."

Route 66 Raceway here has been a good track for Rivas and the G2 Motorsports/Drag Specialties/S&S CycleV-Twin motorcycle. Last year, Rivas entered race day in the fifth qualifying position and advanced to the second round. The G2 Motorsports/Drag Specialties/S&S Cycle V-Twin won the event in 2005.

"I qualified well last season at Route 66 Raceway, and I'm really looking forward to it again this year," Rivas added.

The test session proved invaluable as it gave Rivas a chance to run laps on the motorcycle during a month long break in the Pro Stock Motorcycle season.

"It's been too long of down time in between our last event (the May 4 O'Reilly NHRA Midwest Nationals) and the next," commented Rivas. "The PSM schedule skips two national events (O'Reilly NHRA Thunder Valley Nationals and O'Reilly NHRA Summer Nationals) and I'm just excited to get back to racing."

Rivas is seventh in point standings for the 2008 NHRA POWERade Pro Stock Motorcycle championship chase with 191 points.
