In addition to all the action at Rockingham Dragway, similar events will be held July 4th at Texas Motorplex in Ennis, Texas, and at Milan Dragway near Detroit.

The event also coincides with the launch of www.1320x.com, a new social networking community dedicated to the grassroots racing lifestyle. The portal will feature video from 1320x events. It will also serve as a networking resource for drivers and race fans, a place where they can swap stories, trade tips, and issue challenges to other drivers.

“There is a resurgent interest in the American muscle car that comes from a passion for speed and iconic American values,” observed Pullin TV producer and 1320x president Jack Schaeffer. “This event is not about celebrities; it’s about the cars, the drivers and the people who love to watch them race.”

The July 5th  Ellerbe Telephone Communications 1320x event at Rockingham Dragway will feature four classes of races: Open Comp Bracket, Grudge, Outlaw Drag Radial, and the classic Gear Jammers circuit. Prize money will top $20,000, with the winner of the Outlaw Drag Radial event taking home a $5,000 purse. All classes are limited to American-made cars. Spectators will play a big part in the event, picking the winners during Open Comp qualifying, with the top cars in Ford, Chevy, Mopar and Buick/Olds/Pontiac categories competing in a bracket-style “shoot-out” for the Manufacturer’s Cup. Complete details and entry requirements are available at www.1320x.com.

“Grassroots drag racing is the most underrated form of racing in America,” says 1320x vice president and PINKS personality Nate Pritchett. “The performance these drivers get out of their cars is amazing, but they haven’t received the recognition they deserve—until now."
