Our source adds that at present Smith’s Speedway Enterprises is carrying a significant debt load, with their most important pending major expenditure being to exercise their option to purchase the stock car facility known as Kentucky Speedway.

Those situations would appear to preclude the possibility, at least in the near future, of Smith purchasing the NHRA, although he does remain at least somewhat intrigued by the idea.
