CompetitionPlus.com confirmed with Top Fuel driver Bob Vandergriff Jr. that his team will not be sponsored by United Parcel Service [UPS] in 2009.

This announcement ends a three-year association between the two.

“We were in talks throughout the year about extending our agreement and in the end an agreement wasn't able to be reached,” Vandergriff told CompetitionPlus.com Friday. “This is just a business decision. I have enjoyed immensely representing UPS. They are a first class operation and I wish them nothing but the best in the future.”

Vandergriff is mum on his 2009 plans other than to say his marketing team has several promising deals in the works.

“I can assure you I’m not driving Alan Johnson’s Top Fuel dragster,” Vandergriff said with a chuckle. “I wanted to get that out there before the rumors started.”
