GEEZERS AT THE GROVE RESULTS

If you were at Maple Grove Raceway watching the Geezers at the Grove on Sunday,  you would have never known that a tropical storm came through the day prior.  The weather was gorgeous, and the racing was awesome!

Howard Haight, who recently returned to to New York after residing in California for 30 years, dominated the Nostalgia Top Fuel Class with Dave Mullett taking the number 2 spot in the Chicago-style eliminator.  Philadelphia resident Rocky Pirrone took top honors in the Nostalgia Funny Car class in his 1977 Trans Am Funny Car.  Keith Davidson took second when he turned on the red light in his 1977 Monza.

The East Coast Gassers, a club that sets out to preserve the looks of the 50’s – early 70’s race cars, fielded a 15 car eliminator.  This class was a blast to watch with all the  gorgeous, authentic old cars. John Olcott, took the win here.

A new and upcoming club, the Backseat Drivers (an all front engine dragster bracket racing club) ran as well.  John Worm came out victorious.

As usual, the Maple Grove Money Trail racers made their presence known in the winner’s circle. Stephen “soggy” Dunn turned quite a few heads when he won BOTH Justice Brother’s 1 and 2 eliminators, sending people home left and right, with and without electronics, for a grand total of 14 winning rounds in ONE DAY.  Kurt Holland took the runner up position in JB1 while Giles Cannon III runnered up in JB2.  Dale Greenly dominated the Geezers/Justice Brother’s 3  category (55 and older).
