HURRICANES HAMPER BROGDON'S PRO STOCK RETURN

A pair of southern gents named Gustav and Ike have delayed the debut of the new Kent Services and Trucking Pro Stock team scheduled for this weekend’s NHRA event at the Texas Motorplex, and with those delays the team is now looking for a late season debut at either Richmond, VA or Las Vegas NV.

In the days just prior to hurricane Gustav making landfall in southern Louisiana, the team had completed construction of their new race shop on the grounds of No Problem Raceway in Belle Rose. Little did anyone know that the eye of Gustav would pass directly over the new race shop and that electrical service would be lost for days at the new facility. While the shop survived the storm, the loss of electricity and the combined effects of localized flooding and storm damage forced the team to concentrate on personal safety and matters other than engine development and race car preparation in the days following the storms hit. Following up on Gustav’s path of destruction was Ike, the next storm from the Atlantic hurricane season to make landfall. Ike’s impact was felt by driver Rodger Brogdon and other team members based in the Houston metropolitan area that have now been without water and electricity since the storm hit last weekend, again forcing team members to deal with more important personal and family matters rather than race team preparation.

As Rodger Brogdon put it “We ARE going to hit the track at some point this year, all the parts and pieces are falling into place, we just need for Mother Nature to give us some time without wind and rain and storms so that we can redirect our focus to the race operation. Thankfully everyone from the team and their families came through these two storms unscathed and what damage that team members did sustain is able to be repaired. “

The Kent Services and Trucking debut of their 2008 Pontiac GXP Pro Stock is still planned for the end of the 2008 NHRA POWERade drag racing season, as team owner Steve Kent firmly believes in being able to be on track and “Run with the rest of the boys” to be able to see how this new team stacks up before setting sights on the 2009 NHRA Full Throttle championship tour. All that’s needed now is a little cooperation from Mother Nature for this team to be on track.
