Wilmes laid down the quickest time amongst the 44 Pro Street entries with an incredible 6.160 elapsed time at 232.23 miles per hour behind the wheel of his supercharged 1968 Pontiac Firebird.

The fastest car ended up the second qualified entry when turbo specialist Mike Moran thundered to a 245.18 blast during Friday evening’s session. He turned in a 6.165 elapsed time on the monumental pass.

Friday was a good to the Glidden family as second-generation champion Billy led qualifying with a 6.71 elapsed time while his ten-time champion father Bob was several ticks behind with a 6.76-second run.

Qualifying resumes at 10 AM, PST with the third session of each respective category.
