Goodyear, which has been involved with The Rock since 1993, will continue to sponsor one of the track’s 4 X 16 electronic scoreboard signs.

“Goodyear has been a great partner over the years and we’re pleased that the company continues to see the benefit of an association with our racetrack,” Earwood said.  “To be honest, it would be a little strange to call the right lane anything but ‘The Goodyear Lane.’”

Rockingham Dragway will soon announce an ambitious racing schedule for 2009 that will show   100-plus days of racing, beginning in mid-January.  “In spite of the doom and gloom from our national news media the business of drag racing maintains a very strong pulse.  An indicator of our strength is amplified when a major company like Goodyear commits to a long-term commitment at our facility”.

The final event of the season will be conducted this Saturday at the dragway, a Test and Tune Street Drag open to all vehicles.
