R2B2 ISSUES OFFICIAL STATEMENT

Roger Burgess, owner of R2B2 Racing, has temporarily suspended racing operations of his two-car Nitro Funny Car team.  The R2B2 Team cars raced last year with driver Melanie Troxel competing at all 24 events. Frank Hawley drove the second car at a limited number of events.

“I stepped into the ownership role only 7 months ago when I bought out my former partner (Mike Ashley)” said Roger.   “We had two complete race team operations and staff for both teams.  At that time, I was new to the ownership role so I didn’t feel it would be a good idea to make any changes.  My plan was to finish the season and then evaluate things after Pomona.” Roger Burgess, owner of R2B2 Racing, has temporarily suspended racing operations of his two-car Nitro Funny Car team.  The R2B2 Team cars raced last year with driver Melanie Troxel competing at all 24 events. “At the end of 2008, it became clear that we were not going to secure full sponsorship for either of my Funny Car teams for the 2009 Full Throttle Series.  After a complete review and evaluation of the current opportunities, I determined that in order to create a viable long-term business, a restructuring of the Team was needed. So, I decided to stop the racing operations while we concentrate on developing a program or programs that will deliver a significant value proposition for the right Sponsor or sponsors.” continued Burgess.

“I am committed to building a prosperous and professional racing business. Melanie Troxel is still our driver and she will be ready to jump back on the tour when we obtain sponsorship.  I have a full-time staff developing and pursuing a number of sponsorship opportunities and I am adding a new 20,000 sq. ft. addition to R2B2 Motors’ current 46,000 sq. ft. facility in Duluth, GA.  The addition, which will accommodate up to four Nitro teams and support equipment, will be completed in the Fall.” said Burgess.

“I am confident that we will have our teams back on the track in the near future.  I want to thank all of the folks that have supported us in 2008 and I look forward to their continued support when we restart our racing operations” the owner concluded.

Burgess will continue to drive and operate his Pro Mod race team with a full schedule planned for 2009.
