You launch "The Quest for the Full Throttle Moment," an innovative new bonus award program developed by Full Throttle and NHRA that will recognize the season’s most unforgettable moments.

Teams in all four NHRA professional categories will be eligible for the new bonus award, which will recognize a single greatest moment in each pro class from all 24 events during the 2009 NHRA Full Throttle Drag Racing Series season. At the season-ending awards ceremony, one greatest moment from each category will be declared the best of the season.

The Quest for the Full Throttle Moment replaces the Full Throttle Pit Crew Challenge bonus program, which was launched by Full Throttle in 2005. The Quest for the Full Throttle Moment replaces the Full Throttle Pit Crew Challenge bonus program, which was launched by Full Throttle in 2005.

"When we kick off ‘The Quest for the Full Throttle Moment’ at the Winternationals this weekend in Pomona, the search is on to identify the most jaw-dropping moments from among the thousands that define NHRA Drag Racing each season," said Chris Lopez, senior marketing manager, Coca-Cola North America. "The ESPN announcing crew and all of the great NHRA fans will decide which moments rank at the top in each category at the end of the season. Together we will celebrate the greatest moments of the season and reward those NHRA Full Throttle Drag Racing Series teams who create those moments."

This innovative program will make more than $250,000 in bonus awards available to NHRA professional teams during the NHRA Full Throttle Drag Racing Series season. The greatest Top Fuel and Funny Car moments will net the winning teams $3,000 per race, while the greatest moments for Pro Stock will earn $1,000 at each event and $750 for Pro Stock Motorcycle. Season winners of The Quest for the Full Throttle Moment in Top Fuel and Funny Car will earn $25,000 each, while Pro Stock will earn $15,000 and the Pro Stock Motorcycle winner will receive $5,000.

ESPN’s NHRA telecast team, led by race analyst Mike Dunn, will determine the top four moments from each class at each NHRA Full Throttle Drag Racing Series event. After the NHRA Las Vegas Nationals in October the top four moments of the year in each of the four categories will be posted on NHRA.com where fans will be able to vote for The Quest for the Full Throttle Moment season award. Voting will take place until the Monday after the Auto Club NHRA Finals. The results of the fan vote will be tabulated and the winner will be announced at the season-ending NHRA Full Throttle Awards Ceremony on Nov. 16.

Due to the timing of the voting process for The Quest for the Full Throttle Moment, the winning greatest moments in each pro category from the Auto Club NHRA Finals will not be included among the moments eligible for the season award.
