WEDNESDAY'S PRO MOD ANNOUNCEMENT GIVES SENSE OF DIRECTION TO RAY FAMILY TEAM

Wednesday’s announcement of new series sponsor for the NHRA Pro Modified series has many teams scrambling in scott-ray.jpgpreparation for the season-opener next month in Gainesville, Fla.

One of those teams that had been stuck in limbo belonged to Scott Ray, driver of the Ohio Crankshaft 1953 Corvette Pro Mod.

“The deal is done and now it is finally time to race." said Ray. "Thanks to Roger Burgess, Tom Compton, Matt Brammer, and many others, the Get Screened America Pro Mod Challenge is a long term reality. I cannot wait for the first hit at Gainesville." In the meantime, the Ohio Crankshaft team plans a test session in Valdosta, Ga., on the way to Gainesville.

“We are so fortunate to have the ongoing support from World Products and JE Pistons and we are making every effort to improve on our sixth place in last year’s point standings,” Ray added.

The Rays, Scott and Stan, experienced their best race of the season during last year’s stop in Richmond, Va., recording a best 5.91 elapsed time at 241 miles per hour en route to a runner-up finish.

“Our focus this winter has been on the small things to help our consistency although Dad will have a new super-secret engine in a few weeks,” Ray added.

The team recently sent the Corvette to Andy McCoy Race Cars for a complete check over and paint touch up.
