Mooresville Dragway, known in many circles as "Race City USA” will host more than its fair share of heads-up, outlaw racing in 2009.

The featured Outlaw Mad Dawgs is one of those marquee divisions that will be back for their fourth season of racing joined by two new classes. Extreme 10.5 and the Piedmont Renegades (Dirty Mo style) will join the line-up of classes being offered.

The featured Outlaw Mad Dawgs is one of those marquee divisions that will be back for their fourth season of racing joined by two new classes. Extreme 10.5 and the Piedmont Renegades (Dirty Mo style) will join the line-up of classes being offered.

The Outlaw Mad Dawgs will compete four times at Mooresville, starting  with the season opener Easter Weekend April 10 and 11, which will also kick off “Shakedown Fridays” on April 10th, with “Shakedown Runs” from 2 to 5 PM, and one round of Mad Dawg qualifying at 8:30 PM.

This leads up to Saturday’s Showdown with two more rounds of qualifying and final Quick 8 eliminations. 

New for 2009 Outlaw Mad Dawg rules will be in line with the premier head-up event "BIG DOG" held each Thursday night at Piedmont Dragway. This in an effort to a line all three "dawg" tracks into one set of rules. This will better help the racers that support all three races at Mooresville, Piedmont and Dunn Benson. This provides the opportunity for one set of rules for all three series run at tracks around the area. The biggest adjustment for some racers maybe the "tire rule" in which racers will be required to run on a 22.5 Hoosier DOT tire. The Mad Dawgs will not be required to have Mufflers, dash or limitations on wing.
