A
tribute to John Force’s first Funny Car, an infamous car that got Force
banned from the track more than 35 years ago, is now available in a
limited edition 1:24 scale collectible diecast car. This piece of drag
racing history is now available through Summit Motorsports Park.
Even Force’s most enthusiastic fans may not be aware that back in 1973 Force’s first car was a rear-engine chain-drive Mustang Mach 1 Funny Car named “Night Stalker,” that made its first run at Irwindale Speedway. On the burnout for Force’s second pass, the chain failed and showered links all over the track which immediately got Force, his brother Louie and the Night Stalker kicked out. The day was a disaster but Force had a taste of competition in a Funny Car. Even though the Night Stalker wasn’t a success it didn’t stop Force’s dream of becoming a professional racer and the drag racing legend he is today. It wouldn't be until 1975, two years later, that Force would appear in his “Brute Force” car, the car
many fans think is Force’s first.
“Fans will be able to not only have a piece of history sitting on their shelf with this car,” said Bill Bader, Jr., president of Summit Motorsports Park, “but they’ll also be able to retell an important part of drag racing history that very few people even know about. It’s a collectible car from John Force, the biggest name in drag racing, with an interesting story behind it.”
“This car has a modern, highly-detailed chassis and contemporary body style,” Bader continued. “But what makes it unique is the design, which was inspired by John Force’s own design from 1973.”
Adding to the car’s collectability, Force will compete in a full-size replica of the car at the August 1,
2009 Night Under Fire race at Summit Motorsports Park. Force will be behind the wheel of the Night Stalker for the first time since 1973, but on that day only, then the car will be retired forever.
The Night Stalker diecast collectible car is a tribute to Force’s determination and professional racing
career. The car, the eighth in a series produced each year by Summit Motorsports Park, is available in three highly detailed editions.
A White Gold Edition with a production run of just 20 pieces comes with a Certificate of Authenticity
and is hand-numbered. Each purchaser of this exclusive car gets to choose a piece from the legendary John Force's real 2004 "Freedom Flight" Funny Car which is being cut up into 20 pieces. The car also comes with poster autographed by John Force. The White Gold edition sells for $1,499.95 and is available by phone only.
This is a once in a lifetime opportunity to have an exclusive edition plus a piece of history.
A Color Chrome Edition of the car has a production run of just 200 pieces. It also comes with a
Certificate of Authenticity, a hand autographed by John, and is hand-numbered. The Color Chrome edition sells for $299.95 and is available by phone or through Summit Motorsports Park’s online store.
