In Comp Eliminator, Avon Lake, Ohio’s Pat Ross scored his first national event win of the year, wheeling his ’05 Grand Am to the win over Arnie Martel of Tewksbury, Mass., in his ’07 GTO.  Ross’s win kept Martel from moving into second place in the standings, past reigning national Comp Eliminator champion Dan Fletcher.

Luke Bogacki of Woodville, Ala., made his season debut in Super Comp at Atlanta Dragway and went all the way to the winner’s circle, ousting Michael Rastall, Rainesville, Ala., in the final.  Veteran racer Steve Cohen, Trilby, Fla., won his 16th NHRA national event behind the wheel of his ’04 Grand Am when he beat Clarksville, Tenn., resident Jeremy Jensen in the final round of Super Gas.  Mike DeSio, Seminole, Fla., won his second national event in Super Street when he beat Mike Griggs of Ocala, Fla.  DeSio, who is the defending Southeast division Super Street champion, also drove his ’67 Chevy II to a win in March at the SPORTSnationals event in Belle Rose, La.
