AUSTRALIA'S WILLOWBANK REVEALS PLANS TO REOPEN

Willowbank Raceway, one of Australia's premier facilities, revealed overnight its plans to reopen under a Queensland Government approved COVID Safe Plan enabling larger testing events starting Saturday. June 27.

"Our first event back will be a permanent IHRA licence holders Racer Test Day, which will see competitor entries capped to provide the venue with some necessary data for events moving forward," a Willowbank Raceway statement said. "Due to the large amount of pit space at our venue, each event after this date will allow for even higher competitor entry numbers, and these will be posted accordingly on the website for each event.

"The following Saturday 4th July will see an exciting doubleheader with another Racer Test Day event planned during the daytime for our license holders and a Test & Tune in the evening to give our more traditional street car-based competitors a chance to stretch their legs for the first time back."

"Subject to the existing State Government roadmap for easing to Level 3 sporting restrictions, sportsman level competition events will be able to recommence allowing for the return of some of the best racing in the country with the Queensland Drag Racing Championship on July 11."

Radial competitors make a return with Kenda 660 Radial test days scheduled for July 17-18.

July is closed out with the Archer Smash Repair Street Series on July 25.

All events will be conducted with strict measures as required by the COVID Safe Plan, which includes measures such as strict social distancing in the venue. Full details of competitor and crew obligations will be made available in the coming days.

All events will be by online pre-entry only. Minimum numbers will be required to see each event proceed and these will be posted on each event page at www.willowbankraceway.com.au along with full entry terms and conditions. Their first two event dates are available for entry online now.

At this stage, the COVID Safe Plan does not allow for general admission spectators, only competitors and their crew. As Queensland Government policies in these areas are relaxed, Willowbank Raceway will be able to update our customers further in due time. As a result, our calendar will have to remain fluid in the short term to allow for a July 25 return.
