Bo Butner, the 2017 NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series Pro Stock world champion, is eager to jump in his Strutmasters-backed Chevy Camaro at the upcoming Lucas Oil NHRA Winternationals and begin pursuit of another season title. One car just never seems to be enough for the diverse racer, though. 

In addition to racing Pro Stock at Auto Club Raceway at Pomona, Butner will also be strapping into the driver's seat of a brand-spanking new Jerry Haas-built Ford Mustang owned by Oklahoma businessman and racer Jack Hodge. 

"This car is beautiful, and I can't wait to race it," said Butner, who says the cool-factor on the Ford is raised by the inclusion of a Cobra Jet combination for the drive train. "I would love a win in the Top Sportsman class, and I'll have a chance to get one at both Pomona and Phoenix. This is really a fun way to start the year." 

Last season, Butner debuted in Super Gas and won in his first attempt at Sonoma Raceway. He raced to multiple final rounds at the divisional and national levels to make himself a true contender in the category, despite a limited Sportsman schedule. He also added Super Comp to his repertoire in Chicago and has previously claimed national event wins in Pro Stock, Comp, Super Stock, Stock, Super Gas, and Super Street. Only one other driver has wins in more categories; fellow Sportsman and Pro Stock competitor Jeg Coughlin has seven.

Hodge and Butner will also be teammates in NHRA's SAMTech.edu Factory Stock Showdown in 2020. The SAMTech.edu Factory Stock Showdown begins in Gainesville with additional races scheduled for Charlotte, Atlanta, Norwalk, Chicago, Indianapolis, St. Louis, and the fall race in Las Vegas. For now, Butner is satisfied to see what he can do in both Pro Stock and Top Sportsman.
