DRAG RACER KILLED IN PIT AREA ACCIDENT


A veteran drag racer was killed Friday morning at Firebird Raceway in Boise, Idaho, the result of a pit area accident.

KTVB.com confirmed through the Ada County coroner that Competition Eliminator racer Dan Barton, 65, of Post Falls, Idaho, was pronounced dead at the scene when the door of his hauler collapsed, causing blunt force trauma. 

NHRA released the following statement, "We’re very saddened to hear that a participant passed away today after a tragic off-track accident at Firebird Raceway. We at NHRA, along with the entire racing community, extend our deepest sympathies and prayers to the participant’s family and friends. We also ask that everyone respect the family’s privacy at this time."
